My Top 15 Favorite Hit Songs of 2016 Part 1 (15-11)

  15. Sorry - Beyonce (Peak #11, Billboard Year End: #71, Pulse Jan-Dec: #70, Crownnote: #76) It still feels very weird and unrepresentative that Lemonade, one of the most acclaimed and biggest albums of 2016, only had one year end hit, and a modest one at that (Formation not having a better run being the best example of this). But anyway, the one we did get is a fantastic song. Beyonce just performs this song so well, because the song starts with her being confident and just conveying the image of her shaking this breakup off easily because she's Beyonce, later on in the song the image breaks and we see that it really does affect her. Also she just sounds amazing and the beat slaps.  14. 24k Magic - Bruno Mars (Peak #4, Billboard Year End: N/A, Pulse Jan-Dec: #54,  Crownnote: #56) This might be my favorite Bruno Mars hit where he's the lead artist. And I also consider this a better version of Uptown Funk (a song I never really liked that much to be honest). It's definitely

  10. Snooze - SZA I think recently SZA finally clicked for me. I haven't tested that yet by going back to her Ctrl era hits since my 2017 best list. Maybe it's just that I like her hits this year more than them, or maybe lately I've been busier and tired more often and more in the mood for downbeat R&B like this, but Kill Bill was one of the last cuts from the list, and Low would have been even higher if it was eligible. This song just did a good job calming me down through this stressful year. SZA's voice just sounds so comforting and smooth, the pitch shifting is fantastic and the beat is just upbeat enough to be catchy and for the song to have rhythm while also laid back enough to be calming. Before I listened to Low as a recommendation from my friends I considered this my favorite SZA song I'd heard, and between the songs I've heard it I actually want to listen to SOS at some point which I never thought I'd say. 9. Cruel Summer - Taylor Swift  Some

  20. All My Life - Lil Durk, J. Cole  I'm kind of surprised this song stuck with me as much as it did as I have never been a fan of either artist, but damn I love the children's choir chorus, it just makes this song anthemic. I also love the message of not letting the people trying to keep you down do so. I'm so glad this was the big Lil Durk hit this year and not Stand By Me.  19. Everything I Love - Morgan Wallen This was a such a huge surprise. I have hated Morgan Wallen for years now and even some of his more beloved songs like Sand In My Boots I've hated. The only song of his I'd heard from him before this that I even somewhat liked was 7 Summers, and I don't even love that one (it's like a 7/10). But something about this one I liked a lot more than any of his other hits first listen, and it kept growing with every listen and now I can say I genuinely love this song. I hate to say that given what he did, but this is easily my favorite song of his. The

Hey everyone, Drake from Urtar Reviews here and today I am doing a list of my Top 5 Least Favorite Hit Songs of 2023! How was 2023 popular music? While on a quality level it was overall pretty good, this year for the Billboard charts felt like this line from Tubthumping by Chumbawamba. " Truth is, I thought it mattered  I thought that music mattered"  But does it? Bollocks!" Just like 2022 the charts were incredibly stagnant and just not very interesting. Although there were the occasional things happening that were more interesting like the regional mexican trend and old songs having huge runs. Also most of the worst hits of this year just don’t give me much to say and there also wasn’t that much music I truly hated this year, which is why I am only doing a Top 5 worst list. Alright, let’s get into the list! 5.  So remember Take Me To Church by Hozier? How good that song was? Well imagine if someone who sounded like a mix of the Arcade guy and X Ambassadors tried to c
