Throwback Breakdown: May 22, 2010

Image
Hey everyone, Drake, known online as Urtar Reviews here and it's time for another episode of Throwback Breakdown!  Now before we start, I had the idea of having an intro song for this series even though this is a blog series and not a YouTube series. So I have made Used To Like by Neon Trees the official intro song of this series and I will be posting its music video at the beginning of every new post of this series going forward. And if you want to, you can hear it before reading the entry each time. And if you've never heard it, at least listen to it once because I bet you'll love it. It's one of my favorite songs of all time. And also, I would recommend the album it comes from, I Can Feel You Forgetting Me, it's a 10/10 album in my opinion.  Anyway, on to Throwback Breakdown! The Top Ten To start off our top 10, we have a new #1 debut, Not Afraid by Eminem. It pushes OMG by Usher and Will.i.am back to #2. Nothin' On You by B.o.B and Bruno Mars loses to #3. B...

The Top Twenty Best Hit Songs of 2012 - Part 2 (10-1)

Image
This is Part 2 of my Top 20 Best Hit Songs of 2012. If you haven't read part 1, here's the link. https://urtarreviews.blogspot.com/2021/12/hey-everyone-drake-known-online-as.html  10. Swimming Pools (Drank) - Kendrick Lamar I have not listened to Kendrick Lamar's major label debut album Good Kid, Maad City, the album this song comes from, which is widely regarded as a 2010s classic. It's on my list of albums I need to hear someday. But I have heard from people who put this song on best lists that it's one of the worst on the album and if I agree with that then damn because this song is exceptional! The incredible production that creates an atmosphere that fits the lyrics perfectly, Kendrick's fantastic rapping as usual, the incredibly catchy and amazing "drank" ad libs, and of course the incredible lyrics. This song is about the relationship between peer pressure and drinking too much, by portraying a character who is peer pressured to drink a lot of a...

The Top Twenty Best Hit Songs Of 2012 Part 1 (20-11)

Image
Hey everyone, Drake, known online as Urtar Reviews here and holy shit was 2012 a stacked year for pop music! While I stand by it not being the best year of the 2010s, mainly because of all the bottom barrel garbage the year had at its worst, the best of 2012 was both legendary and in large numbers. So because of that, I am making this best list a top 20 and therefore I will be doing it in two parts. In Part 1 I  will go over picks 20-11 and some Dishonorable Mentions, and then Part 2 will go over 10-1 and the rest of the Dishonorable Mentions.  Now as usual, rules and disclaimers: Songs are eligible for this list if they either made the Jan-Dec Year End Hot 100 for 2012 or the Billboard Year End Hot 100 for 2012 and didn't make either list in 2011. This means that the following songs on the 2012 Jan-Dec and Billboard Year End lists are ineligible for both this list and my best list and will instead be eligible for my 2011 lists:  Without You by David Guetta and Usher Some...

2010 Complete Chart Run Year End

Hey everyone, Drake, known online as Urtar Reviews here. So for those who don't know, I have been using Crownnote to calculate Jan-Dec YE lists based on their points system, which is an inverse one for the record. Link to my Crownnote profile: http://crownnote.com/users/urtar-reviews-20. Anyway, doing this has allowed me to do something else, something I am calling the Complete Chart Run Year End lists. These lists use the entire chart run of a song towards whichever year it was higher on in my Crownnote Jan-Dec lists. They are designed to remove the problem of songs getting caught between years. Anyway, here's the 2010 list! For songs that didn't make the Billboard Year End for 2010 the lead artist name is parentheses.  Tik Tok  Just The Way You Are Need You Now  Love The Way You Lie  Dynamite  Hey, Soul Sister  California Gurls  Bad Romance  OMG Teenage Dream  Airplanes Nothin On You Rude Boy Break Your Heart  Like A G6  DJ ...
