Throwback Breakdown: May 22, 2010
Hey everyone, Drake, known online as Urtar Reviews here and it's time for another episode of Throwback Breakdown!
Now before we start, I had the idea of having an intro song for this series even though this is a blog series and not a YouTube series. So I have made Used To Like by Neon Trees the official intro song of this series and I will be posting its music video at the beginning of every new post of this series going forward. And if you want to, you can hear it before reading the entry each time. And if you've never heard it, at least listen to it once because I bet you'll love it. It's one of my favorite songs of all time. And also, I would recommend the album it comes from, I Can Feel You Forgetting Me, it's a 10/10 album in my opinion.
Anyway, on to Throwback Breakdown!
The Top Ten
To start off our top 10, we have a new #1 debut, Not Afraid by Eminem. It pushes OMG by Usher and Will.i.am back to #2. Nothin' On You by B.o.B and Bruno Mars loses to #3. Break Your Heart by Taio Cruz and Ludacris holds stable at #4. Airplanes by B.o.B. and Hayley Williams gains to #5. Rude Boy by Rihanna takes a hit down to #6. Hey, Soul Sister by Train drops to #7. Your Love Is My Drug by Kesha holds steady at #8. Next we have a new debut in the top 10, My First Kiss by 3OH!3 and Kesha at #9. Finally, Need You Now by Lady Antebellum loses to #10.
Significant Gains, Losses, Returns, and Dropouts
To start off our losses, American Honey by Lady Antebellum drops to 37. Baby by Justin Bieber and Ludacris falls to 38. BedRock by Young Money and Lloyd drops to 42. Say Something by Timbaland and Drake falls to 60. I'm Awesome by Spose drops to 79. Gypsy by Shakira loses to 84. Kissin' U by Miranda Cosgrove drops to 91. Finally, Ride by Ciara and Ludacris falls to 96.
For dropouts, the only notable ones are How Low by Ludacris, and 'Til Summer Comes Around by Keith Urban.
For our returns, the only one is Undo It by Carrie Underwood getting the single push to 95.
To start our gains, Rock That Body by The Black Eyed Peas gains big to 32. Impossible by Shontelle gains to 57. Cooler Than Me by Mike Posner rises to 64. Lover, Lover by Jerrod Niemann unfortunately gains to 75.
1. Not Afraid - Eminem
I gave this song a Dishonorable Mention on my 2010 worst list and I stand by it. The production is awful and has aged like shit, and the lyrics just don't work for me at all. Very bad song.
9. My First Kiss - 3OH!3, Kesha
This song has honestly grown on me since I did my 2010 worst list to the point where I'm just meh on it. Like it still has negative qualities but it also has some positive qualities for me so it just balances out to meh.
34. Find Your Love - Drake
I gave this an HM on my best list for 2010 and I stand by this because it's a pretty great song. The great production with a fantastic groove, Drake's powerful vocals conveying the emotions of well, and the well written lyrics. I enjoy this song quite a bit. Great stuff!
35. Lose My Mind - Young Jeezy, Plies
I like most of what I've heard from Young Jeezy and this song is no different because I enjoyed this a lot. The production bumps hard, Jeezy's flow goes hard, and there's some good bars. Just a fun rap banger that I enjoyed a lot.
97. Love Like Crazy - Lee Brice
I like everything I've heard from Lee Brice and while this is no Hard To Love or I Hope You're Happy Now, it' still pretty good. Lee Brice remains a good singer, the instrumentation is good if standard, and I like the lyrical story about an old fashioned man. It's not a great song, but it's a good one.
99. All Or Nothing - Theory Of A Deadman
I've heard bad things about this band, and yeah this is pretty terrible. The lyrics aren't bad but the singing most definitely is! This guy sounds like the singers of a lot of 2000s bands I hate like Nickelback and Lifehouse and Creed. The instrumentation is also pretty bad and poorly mixed. Terrible song!
That was this week! Worst Of The Week is going to All Or Nothing by Theory Of A Deadman and Dishonorable Mention to Not Afraid by Eminem. Best Of The Week is going to Lose My Mind by Young Jeezy and Plies, and Honorable Mention is going to Find Your Love by Drake..
Thanks for reading! Urtar Reviews signing out! I'll see you next time!
