Throwback Breakdown: September 25, 2010

 Hey everyone, Drake known online as Urtar Reviews here, and yes we're doing another one today! Another episode of Throwback Breakdown for September 25, 2010! Let's get into our top 10. 

Top Ten: 

Teenage Dream by Katy Perry gets a second week at #1. Love The Way You Lie by Eminem and Rihanna lags behind at #2. Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars rises a spot to #3. It pushed back Dynamite by Taio Cruz down to #4. Two club songs featuring Pitbull both hold steady, I Like It by Enrique Iglesias at #5 and DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love by Usher at #6. Just A Dream by Nelly rises two spots to #7. Take It Off by Kesha holds steady at #8. Next we have a song entering the top 10 for the first time, my favorite song by this artist, Club Can't Handle Me by Flo Rida and David Guetta. Finally, Mine by Taylor Swift unfortunately drops down to #10. 

Significant gains, losses, dropouts, and returns: 

To start off our losses, Billionaire by Travie McCoy and Bruno Mars loses money down to 23. Teach Me How To Dougie by Cali Swag District flunks down to 38. The Only Exception drops down to 43. Smile by Uncle Kracker frowns down to 44. Need You Now by Lady Antebellum drops to 46. Pretty Good At Drinkin' Beer by Billy Currington gets sober at 47. Love Like Crazy by Lee Brice drops to 54. Undo It by Carrie Underwood loses to 67. Erase Me by Kid Cudi and Kanye West continues to get erased to 69. Break My Bank by New Boyz and Iyaz gets repaired to 74. Why Wait by Rascal Flatts goes down to 80. Lover, Lover by Jerrod Niemann drops to 81. Glitter In The Air by P!nk vanishes down to 86. I'm In by Keith Urban is out to 87. For notable dropouts, we have Bulletproof by La Roux, Alejandro by Lady Gaga, There Goes My Baby,My First Kiss by 3OH!3 and Kesha,  and Impossible by Shontelle all clenching Year End spots, and Ride by Ciara and Ludacris, Kissin U by Miranda Cosgrove, Somebody To Love by Justin Bieber and Usher, Hold You (Hold Yuh) by Gyptian, and Bed Intruder Song by Antoine Dodson, The Gregory Brothers, and Kelly Dodson all falling short. The only returns were Rockstar 101 by Rihanna and Slash at 89, and Rhythm Of Love by Plain White T's at 99. To start off our gains. Like A G6 by Far East Movement, DEV, and The Cataracts cracks the top 20 at 16. Animal by Neon Trees rises to 24. King of Anything by Sara Bareilles rises big to 32. If It's Love by Train rises to 34. 2012 (It Ain't The End) by Jay Sean and Nicki Minaj rises to 41. Fancy by Drake, T.I. & Swizz Beatz rises to 49. Come Back Song by Darius Rucker climbs to 53. September by Daughtry continues up to 57. Farmer's Daughter by Rodney Atkins rises up to 63. Roll With It by Easton Corbin climbs to 65. All Over Me by Josh Turner rises to 66. POWER by Kanye West rises to 70. Love Like Woe by The Ready Set climbs to 71. As She's Walking Away by Zac Brown Band and Alan Jackson up to 72. New Entries: 

35. A Year Without Rain - Selena Gomez & The Scene 

I like pretty much everything I've heard from the Selena Gomez & The Scene era of her career. And this is no different. I don't think I like it quite as much as Naturally or Who Says, but this is still pretty good. Selena sounds really good, and the production is great. The lyrics are not bad, but nothing special either, but Selena sells it well. I like this. 

45. No Hands - Waka Flocka Flame, Roscoe Dash, Wale

What a banger. That hook is so fucking good and infectious. GIRL THE WAY YOU MOVING GOT ME IN A TRANCE. DJ TURN ME UP LADIES THIS YO JAM. And that beat just goes hard. I don't have that much to say about this one, it's just one of my favorite rap bangers of the decade, at least as far as big hits go. 

55. Hollywood - Michael Buble 
Ew I don't like Michael Buble. His voice just irritates me. His music is like soccer mom core and I'm not into it. This song at least has good production, but I'm not a big fan of it. I guess it's fine by the standards of Michael Buble but it doesn't do much for me. 

75. Only Girl (In The World) - Rihanna
If I'm being honest, a lot of Rihanna's big hits from this time period haven't aged very well for me. Not all of them, but I used to really like this song. But man has that beat aged like shit. It's way too goddamn compressed. Rihanna still sounds good but yeah this doesn't do much for me anymore. 

78. Check It Out - will.i.am, Nicki Minaj
This song is really annoying. I usually don't mind will.i.am as much as others. And this has a surprisingly decent beat. But my god are Nicki's oh ohs just so goddamn fucking annoying. And I don't like will.i.am here either. So yeah I'm not a fun. 

84. Dumb Love - Sean Kingston
I like Sean Kingston in club music a lot more than I did making shit like Beautiful Girls. Not to say this is great, but it is passable. The beat is decent, Sean actually sounds solid, but the repetition of dumb does irk me a little bit. But its still fine. 

93. Dog Days Are Over - Florence + The Machine

I used to really hate this one, to the dismay of some of my friends. But you know what, while I'm not fully on board with it yet, I do like it more than I did. The production is amazing, and while Florence's vocals during the chorus are still a bit much for me, especially since I've heard What Kind Of Man which uses similar vocals a lot better, but you know what the lyrical message works well for me, so I do like this now. Not a whole lot, but it's like a solid 7/10 now. 

Alright, that was this week. Worst Of The Week is going to Check It Out by will.i.am and Nicki Minaj, with Dishonorable Mention to Only Girl (In the World) by Rihanna I guess even though it's just medicore? Honorable Mention is a tie between Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine and A Year Without Rain by Selena Gomez & The Scene.   10. Snooze - SZA I think recently SZA finally clicked for me. I haven't tested that yet by going back to her Ctrl era hits since my 2017 best list. Maybe it's just that I like her hits this year more than them, or maybe lately I've been busier and tired more often and more in the mood for downbeat R&B like this, but Kill Bill was one of the last cuts from the list, and Low would have been even higher if it was eligible. This song just did a good job calming me down through this stressful year. SZA's voice just sounds so comforting and smooth, the pitch shifting is fantastic and the beat is just upbeat enough to be catchy and for the song to have rhythm while also laid back enough to be calming. Before I listened to Low as a recommendation from my friends I considered this my favorite SZA song I'd heard, and between the songs I've heard it I actually want to listen to SOS at some point which I never thought I'd say. 9. My Top 10 Least Favorite Hit Songs of 2006

  10. Gimme That - Chris Brown  Yay. My favorite artist. Chris brown unfortunately had a big year in 2006, and I don't like all but one of those hits at all. This isn't even the worst one (we'll get to that later). It's just Chris Brown creeping on women. My favorite. And doing it over a really stiff and annoying beat, and sounding awful doing it. His autotune has aged so poorly. Don't have more to say.  9. Ms. New Booty - Bubba Sparxxx, Ying Yang Twins, Mr. Colipark This is on the list entirely for that fucking atrocious beat that sounds like a siren and the annoying vocal effects that sound horrible. Other than that the song is fine, but those two elements completely ruin it.  8. Beep - Pussycat Dolls, Will.i.am/ Buttons - Pussycat Dolls  The Pussycat Dolls fucking suck, or at least that's the impression I have gotten from their hits. My Top 10 Least Favorite Hit Songs of 2003

  Hey everyone, been a while, but Drake, known online as Urtar Reviews here and today I am doing another worst list for 2003! My birth year! So how good an overall year for pop music do I think 2003 was? I think it might be my least favorite year of the 2000s decade for pop music. Not to say it's a terrible year, in fact there's a fair amount of songs I adore as we'll see on the best list. But the bad stuff really drags it down. Let's get into it!
